Liz Gray is based in Perth, Australia and known for her large emotive paintings of women.
Whether working on canvas or copper, Liz’s work reflects the impermanence and transient beauty of the world we live in, but where hope and human connection is always firmly present. Observing her daughters navigate their way into adulthood in their adopted country of Australia, has been the backdrop for much of her work. Liz is well known for her large-scale immersive works of women in water. These paintings and much of her other work, have been recognized by buyers and gallerists as conveying the intensity of female sensory experiences in a distinctive and individualistic way.
Liz completed a Bachelor of Fine Art at Rhodes University in South Africa, where she studied under leading painters of the influential “Grahamstown group” and embraced their large scale, onumental approach to painting. Australia has been her home since 2006 and she is inspired by its unique combination of stark, rugged beauty and exotic tropical features.
Liz works from her studio in North Perth and exhibits her work in select galleries. She enjoys working with clients all over the world, and her paintings hang in collections across Australia, South Africa, Canada, Spain and the United Kingdom. Recently she has been a finalist on the City of Joondalup’s Invitation Art award and recipient of a City of Vincent’s Art grant.
